VANCOUVER, BC – OHM today announced all-new 2012 Urban and Sport electric bikes with next generation BionX Superlight motor and 48V battery. The new OHM e-bikes are 15% lighter and offer up to 20% more range than previous generation models built on the same OHM custom aluminum frame. Starting at $3,399 (USD), the new OHM e-bikes will be available for order in February of 2012.

“Lightweight and long range, OHM e-bikes are the ultimate hybrid electric bikes,” said Michael DeVisser, OHM’s co-founder. “With high quality components, longer battery range and powerful drive system, OHM e-bikes are now better than ever.”

The new OHM e-bikes feature Superlight Bionx 350HT SL motor and extended range 48V 8.8Ah battery pack for the best weight to distance ratio. The new motor is 25% lighter and features the same performance as the first generation motor. With 48V 8.8Ah battery pack, the new OHM e-bikes have the most powerful drive system on the market.

OHM electric bikes are the first e-bikes on the market to feature a custom frame with standard wheelbase designed from the ground up.  Developed by OHM in collaboration with Ideal Bike in Taiwan, the proprietary design is made from reinforced 7005 aluminum for the highest strength to density ratio and oversized tubing for best handling and stability. OHM’s ergonomic frame is easy to step over and features internal cable routing for less clutter.

All OHM bikes feature hydraulic disc brakes, dynamo powered LED lights, custom all-weather fenders and disc brake specific rear carry rack as standard equipment. Hydraulic disc brakes offer precise control and the best stopping power. The new B&M LED lights feature daytime running lights and Linetec spatial light strip for added safety. All-weather fenders and rear carry rack let you carry more cargo and ride in wet conditions.

The Urban series is available in two configurations: The Urban XU700 in Matte Silver or Midnight Blue for suggested retail price of $3,399 (USD) and the Special Edition Urban XU700 in Forest Green with air suspension and leather style saddle and grips for a suggested retail price of $3,699 (USD) The Sport XS750 is available in Matte Black or Burgundy Red with suggested retail price of $4,399 (USD).
