The upgraded OHM XU700, with its BionX electric-assist motor and long-range battery system, optimizes getting around city landscapes
VANCOUVER, B.C., CANADA– E-bikes are all the rage, with nearly every major bike manufacturer now plugging in to the market. Yet despite this competition, OHM Cycles of Vancouver, B.C., continues to design and build the most efficient, integrated, best-performing electric-assist bikes on the market. The all-new OHM Urban XU700 is further proof of this claim.
The Urban XU700 is a custom-designed e-bike (also known as pedelec) that uses premium components for extra performance, comfort and convenience. In other words, a clean, green, healthy mode of transportation
Many advantages are designed into the Urban XU700: A convenient quick-connect battery for easy recharging; a purpose-built aluminum frame with standard wheelbase for perfect balance and control; premium, lightweight components and front suspension for a responsive, comfortable ride; and integrated lighting, hydraulic disc brakes, a rear carry rack, and fenders for city-smart utility and safety.
The OHM Urban XU700 “hybrid” bike is just like a standard bike, but one energized by a BionX electric motor integrated into the rear wheel. The BionX motor, a brushless direct-current generative design, is capable of peak power output of 700 Watts. OHM’s proprietary, enclosed rechargeable lithium-ion battery is center-mounted for better weight distribution. Atop the handlebar, a micro-chipped control module coordinates human and e-power.
Riders can pedal the Urban XU700 as a conventional bicycle or with the pedal assist, taking advantage of four levels of assist are available – 35, 75, 150, and 300 percent – which sends the rider racing up hills and around the city with ease. The OHM rechargeable lithium-ion battery delivers a range of 50 miles (80km).
OHM bikes have caught the attention of the mainstream media, too, with positive reviews in the Wall Street Journal, Wired magazine, AutoWeek and the Vancouver Sun.
Clean Green Transportation
Expanding the bicycle network is an important step to support a clean, green and healthy mode of transportation. OHM bikes produce zero emissions during operation. Each Power pack consumes about one kilowatt-hour of energy while recharging.
